My first experience with Mel Robbins was only a few months ago when I listened to her interview on the Jay Shetty podcast. So many profound, thought provoking words from this lady I just had to reach out to her! Mel Robbins is a highly renowned motivational speaker, podcaster, legal analyst and to top it off- a NY Times Best-Selling Author. To think she was $800k in debt nearly a decade ago (yikes!), has had 12 different careers and was fired from a job are only a few of the reasons Mel’s ability to turn setback into comeback is so inspiring.
Mel’s latest book, The High 5 Habit (that’s bound to be another NY Time’s best-seller) focuses on changing your mindset, behavior and improving your outlook on life. Sounds right up my alley actually!
LA: What is one interesting thing that people may not know about your career?
M: That I’m reinventing it as we speak, changing from creating lots of content for partners to bringing all production in house and launching The Mel Robbins Podcast in September 2022.
LA: During your professional journey, what is one mistake you made that you learned the most from?
M: Tolerating mediocrity because I’m a nice person and not holding people to higher standards.
LA: What are you most proud of at this moment?
M: The changes I’m making in my business – to focus on launching my own podcast.
LA: One thing you wish people would stop doing in business?
M: Not truly caring about the human beings that work for them. For example, if you’re still having Zoom meetings all day long, that’s a problem for the people who work for you.
LA: Your go-to beverage after a long week (specifics please!)
M: A good tequila on the rocks with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
